What is Koebner Phenomenon?
Also known as isomorphic phenomenon, Koebner Phenomenon refers to the fact that in persons with certain skin diseases, ex. psoriasis and vitiligo, skin damage to a certain area of the skin is followed by the development of the disease state in that previously normal skin. In this situation, vitiligo can develop at the site of small wounds, abrasions, surgical procedures, eczema, insect bites, etc. For this reason, it is important to avoid skin damage
whenever possible.
This
response can also occur after surgical
treatment of Vitiligo particularly
in cases that have not been selected according to very strict criteria.
